In 2005, against a competitive tender, Icon won the contract to provide all branding to one of golf's major tournaments on the PGA's European Tour, the BMW Championship at Wentworth.
With BMW as sponsor combined with the event's revered status, Icon was expected to deliver the best in branding signage. We delivered a host of branding products which included the on-course advertising, directional signage, public information displays, scoreboard dressing, tented village fascia and caddie bibs.
Unprecedented in terms of its visual impact was the rotating advertising system on the 17th tee (the famous bunker-less 571-yard 5 par hole) which Icon installed, managed and operated.
We were delighted to receive a favourable reaction from BMW who were pleased that we were able to deliver to the highest specification. Not only BMW but the BBC who broadcasted the event was impressed by the sheer quality of our course branding.
