Icon played a pivotal role in delivering the look of the 12 host stadia at the FIFA World Cup Germany 2006.  Partnering FIFA LOC's appointed agency, T.E.A.M. Marketing as well as the designers Hug and Dorfmuller, Icon successfully met the strict requirements of each individual stadium and were able to provide bespoke signage for every venue involved in the competition.

A global event such as this requires meticulous planning and organisation.  Long before the competition, Icon made over 40 visits to the stadia used in order to gather the necessary information to ensure that we could meet FIFA's and the Local Organising Committee's requirements.  Crucial to the success of the project was the necessary communication between our UK headquarters and our recently established office in Berlin.  Those working on the project were required to attend a full training programme to familiarise themselves with its unique demands and for the project's duration there were 12 experienced signage crews (including a strong contingent of German speaking personnel).  Given the huge scale of a FIFA World Cup competition (it was televised in over 200 countries), it is little wonder that Icon employed 150 people for the 5 week long tournament.

Combining our experience of working on global events and the technical expertise that our people are renowned for - Icon delivered an impressive array of branding products to support and underpin arguably the most important sporting event in the world today.
