Icon produce largest building wrap in Europe for London's Olympic Bid.
Icon Look are proud to be London 2012 bid's `Official Brand Dressing Agency' and as such, have produced some exciting and unique features to help increase the Bid's presence and effort, with projects being completed around the Capital to ensure a strong, bright and consistent message was presented throughout the IOC's recent visit and to the world.
The centrepiece of Icon's work is two massive building wraps - the largest in Europe - around London's Dome, on each side. The wraps, visible from the air, constitute a remarkable project and were installed in conjunction with Anschutz, who own the Dome.
The project was technically an extremely difficult one to realise being installed 2.5m above the Dome roof, with curves in two planes and the banners being huge and exposed. Over 13,000m² of material was used to produce 98 trapezium shaped pieces so that the radii of the curved Millennium Dome were followed. Print and production had to be this way to enable installation to be affixed to massive steel cables travelling between masts protruding through the Dome roof. In total there was over 3 kilometres of high frequency welding and over 7,500 eyelets.
In addition to all this, Icon has, in conjunction with key transport stakeholders `wrapped' DLR, tube and over-ground trains, as well as buses, in London 2012 branding - further strengthening the brand message. These can be seen on the over ground, Jubilee line, DLR and around the streets of London.
