Icon Display have just finished an intensive programme of work in Qatar where they have been responsible for all the design, production and installation of sponsors' and event signage at three major sporting and charity events in a period of just over a week.
Icon - who are establishing an outstanding reputation in the region not only for the creativity and quality of their work but also for their ability to deliver results working to very tight timelines - have just completed work on the Qatar Masters Golf tournament, cycling's Tour of Qatar and a major charity fun event, Wheels 'n' Heels.
Icon provided all the on-site management and combined its market-leading expertise with the use of local production and installation resources to complete the work.
The Commercialbank Qatar Masters is one of the major events on the European PGA Tour. It took place at the prestigious Doha Golf Club from 26-29 January. Icon were responsible for designing, producing and installing all the on-course and venue branding for the event which was won by Sweden's Henrik Stenson. It was Commercialbank's first year as the main sponsor of the event and Icon acted as consultants to them advising on all aspects of their branding using their extensive experience in golf and, in particular, with the European PGA Tour.
Just two days after the golf, Icon was pressed into action to work on the Tour of Qatar, the country's premier cycling event. A wide variety of roadside signage was required at five different start and finish locations and along the 800-kilometre course around Doha and along the West coast of the country. Again, Icon worked very closely with the Qatar Cycling Federation and the event organisers, taking the event to new levels and creating an outstanding visual spectacle. The five-day race finished on 3 February and saw more Scandinavian success as Dane, Lars Michaelsen, took the honours.
The day after the Tour of Qatar finished, Icon were busy again contributing to the Wheels 'n' Heels event, a charity race which attracts participants from all walks of life including celebrities who all attract sponsorship and contribute to the Reach out to Asia charity.
Like many of the companies involved, Icon donated their services and products to help maximise the money raised for the charity. Icon produced all the signage for the event and also created a lifestyle village public entertainment area for competitors and spectators.
Account Director, Justine Mills, was responsible for coordinating Icon's work at all three events. She said: 'It has been an absolutely fabulous experience to be working on three such varied and high profile events. The pressure has certainly been on and we couldn't have done it without such great support from our local office and the people in the region. Qatar is fast becoming a leading centre for major global sporting events and Icon is delighted be involved.'
